Show off your talents and learn more about your classmates.  This talent show is a bit different: your goal is to surprise us.  You can show any talent you like, big or small, but try to pick something we would NOT expect to see you do.

Steps:

1.  Choose a talent to show the class.  It can be a feat of skill or something simple.  It should surprise the class.

2.  Present or post videos demonstrating your talent.

3. Comment on each other’s talents. Ask “why” and “how” questions.

4. Emphasize looking at the audience (eye contact) if comfortable.

5. Reflection: Which peers surprised you most?  Which talent would you like to learn?  Pick someone else’s talent you want to try.  Present/submit videos of themselves trying a new talent and describe why they chose it.

Spooky Stories

Steps

1. Turn off the lights and have them tell some spooky stories they already know.

2. Students write or create a scary (appropriate) story.  Use a graphic organizer for items to include.

3. Tell/record the story in a scary voice using sound effects (creak, squish, etc.).  This is a good activity to share on Halloween and emphasizes creative ideas, entertaining peers, and focusing on enjoyable activities.
